Field Trip Reaction # 2 The Metropolitan museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

When I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I found many  drawings, pictures and sculptures that were so interesting. Some of these great art were the Ancient Egyptian Art, Ancient Greek Art, and some drawings and paintings that were located on the second floor.

Ancient Egyptian Art:
There were many things that I really liked about the Ancient Egyptian Art. It's painting on the wall, sculpture, architecture and others arts that were made by their civilization in the lower Nile Valley from about 5000 BCE to 300 AD. The Egyptian Art is know by it high level in painting and sculpture and both were highly stylized and symbolic. For me it was just amazing the ways that these sculpture were made. It's art have a perfect shape of what they want to show. Much of the Egyptian art comes from tombs and monuments and thus there is a connection on life after death and leave us the preservation of the knowledge of the past that Egyptian had. They painting and sculpture show us many details such as the  art forms and size of each one of them, to let us know how they live and the hierarchical scale that each person have on their civilization. They also have sculptures of their gods and kings that are show most of the time in their art.

Something that  really catch my attention was the Egyptian tombs. The Egyptians believed on life after death, that's why it was important that the deceased have a proper burial with all the correct rituals and traditional funerary equipment. The burial have to follow some steps, First, the body had to be preserved through mummification, a process by which it was artificially dehydrated and then wrapped in linen bandages. Egyptians know that the burying bodies in the ground was not really preservative even with the desiccating sand. The Egyptians over the course developed a way of keeping the body intact using resins and salt.

Ancient Greece Art:
After I done visiting the Ancient Egyptian Art. I went to the Ancient Greece Art which was awesome. The Greek Art have five mainly forms: sculpture ,painting, architecture, pottery and jewelry making but in another level. A reason because the Greek Art is known ,its because of its geometric, archaic, and Classical periods . I saw many things of the beautiful Greek Art and its was just amazing in the way that they art was represent. Something that I really like about the Greek Art was that way that it kept changing, over the time. The Greeks took some ideas from different civilizations which make the Greek Art became the Western Classical Art. Also the Greeks art  was create by focusing on the human forms, politics, and the democracy of their civilization. The Greeks are know for their sculptures and architecture because they create many of them. The Greek Art in another way is different to the other art civilizations because their art have some kind of movements that are show in the human forms and paintings. Nowadays we can see some of the Greek Art on our society because they were the one that contribute to our modern architecture. One great example of this is the white house or the courts from the United States.

I enjoy this field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with the class. It  learned more about the Egyptian and Greece Art and also the some Drawing and painting located on the second floor.  I wish , I could take my own pictures, but unfortunately, I could  take some pictures of the Ancient Egyptian Art. This trip though us about the way of living  of the  different civilizations of the past which is represent in art like sculptures, paintings, and architectures. All of this art have many details that make easy to  us to know about them.

James Turrell vs. Cave of Forgotten Dreams

Compare and contrast :
Between the James Turrell installations and the Cave of the forgotten dreams.

James Turrell installations
 and
the Cave of the forgotten dreams.

Similarities:
Both documentaries explain how each one make use of the light.
James Turrell make use of the light, color to create a different space , that the people are not adapted or familiar with. The whole point to create a peace that they never have, which keep the people focus on the beautiful lights.
In t he cave of the forgotten dreams by Werner Herzog's when the clip got into the cave it show amazing painting, that the light make them see like real, with the movements that it create on the painting. In both videos the James Turrell installations and the cave of the forgotten dreams, the light take a important roll because it make the picture or the people go to a different space.

Differences:
Each one want to get the people to two different spaces. James Turrell focus on the sky space, to tell the people that the sky is not far, The light produce the people transport to a different ambient or like make them feel that they are in the universe. During all this time ,the people will have silence and some how ,will get some peace inside of them. In the other hand the cave of forgotten dreams make the opposite of the James Turrell, instead of showing the light, the cave have painting that look really fresh in the dark. when you see all the painting it amazing how the people from the pass know how to painted. but what make more interesting is that when you are inside you see all those painting and your mind go back to the past, and ask to your self how they draw all this picture in different emotions. and you can see all those movement when the clip got into the painting.it see like if they were real, it But guess what ,the cave if formed of million of different points. many things are a mystery, that human don't have any knowledge about it. If you are there ,you will see that we are lock in history ,but the ones who did it were not. Also everything that you see inside  will stay in your mind , therefore it called the forgotten dreams. In the film it show you great details like traces ,scratches done by fingers of a mammoth, one with three faces and eight feet and all this picture where done by stick.
But the whole point of this two film is that one is saying that look forward but the other one is telling you that humans are lock of history, so they show look to the past, and think about what happen. One film really mix up your mind and the other one let you find some peace in the space.
