Man with a movie camera.

                                          Man with a movie camera

The fim entitled " Man with a movie camera(1929)" by Dziga Vertov show many things from the Soviet society at that time. It shows the Soviet people doing their everyday routine such as work, play and use modern machines that they already have. During the whole film we see a cameraman everywhere taking picture from different places and angles so it came good. In other words, the director is telling to the people that he can film from everywhere in just a few minutes. At that time, this was hard to convience the people becuase it didn't exist such amazying thing able to do that. Vertov is able to do this, and also show a film with no actors, sounds and neither a story base on the film, which make Vertov works unique. Vertov in his works use a ot techniques during the whole film. Some of the techniques that he use such as fast and slow motion, jumps cuts, closed-ups, double explosure and tracking shots created some emotions of confused, suspension, unbelievable and thinking on the viewers during the film.
Vertov in his film is trying to portray a society with a modern society with advanced technology or industry like if he is looking forward in the future of his society. He express a idea that people in the future will be able to another amazing things as the one he did as a filmmaker. he shows the new technology that they have created with their hard work, telling the people that they hard work will make them create new things. He also want to point out to a import idea that in this world there is not need of language to known what is happening around the world becuase images can express many ideas. Therefore he makes useof different techniques, either to com
pare or contrast two things that we can find in the world or the soviet city has the poor or rich people.

Impressionism painting by Luis Lagua

Impressionist painting

I chose to do this impressionist painting from Vincent Van Gogh called " The starry Night over the Rhone". The painting have night sky in the center with swirling clouds, stars and moon in a exaggerated way. there are also some mountains and below a small village with a huge tree. Van Gogh make use of the nature to do his amazing painting and his native land. But the reason that I paint this precious art is because I like the way the Van Gogh make use to the oil on canvas to created the swirling clouds as if a wind storm is coming toward the town and the huge tree that make small town seems as nothing on the nature. Also because I think is extraordinary how the painters from the century as Vincent Van Gogh can create such amazing paintings by using what they have around them and their imagination and sometimes their memory.

Field Trip Reaction # 2 The Metropolitan museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art

When I went to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I found many  drawings, pictures and sculptures that were so interesting. Some of these great art were the Ancient Egyptian Art, Ancient Greek Art, and some drawings and paintings that were located on the second floor.

Ancient Egyptian Art:
There were many things that I really liked about the Ancient Egyptian Art. It's painting on the wall, sculpture, architecture and others arts that were made by their civilization in the lower Nile Valley from about 5000 BCE to 300 AD. The Egyptian Art is know by it high level in painting and sculpture and both were highly stylized and symbolic. For me it was just amazing the ways that these sculpture were made. It's art have a perfect shape of what they want to show. Much of the Egyptian art comes from tombs and monuments and thus there is a connection on life after death and leave us the preservation of the knowledge of the past that Egyptian had. They painting and sculpture show us many details such as the  art forms and size of each one of them, to let us know how they live and the hierarchical scale that each person have on their civilization. They also have sculptures of their gods and kings that are show most of the time in their art.

Something that  really catch my attention was the Egyptian tombs. The Egyptians believed on life after death, that's why it was important that the deceased have a proper burial with all the correct rituals and traditional funerary equipment. The burial have to follow some steps, First, the body had to be preserved through mummification, a process by which it was artificially dehydrated and then wrapped in linen bandages. Egyptians know that the burying bodies in the ground was not really preservative even with the desiccating sand. The Egyptians over the course developed a way of keeping the body intact using resins and salt.

Ancient Greece Art:
After I done visiting the Ancient Egyptian Art. I went to the Ancient Greece Art which was awesome. The Greek Art have five mainly forms: sculpture ,painting, architecture, pottery and jewelry making but in another level. A reason because the Greek Art is known ,its because of its geometric, archaic, and Classical periods . I saw many things of the beautiful Greek Art and its was just amazing in the way that they art was represent. Something that I really like about the Greek Art was that way that it kept changing, over the time. The Greeks took some ideas from different civilizations which make the Greek Art became the Western Classical Art. Also the Greeks art  was create by focusing on the human forms, politics, and the democracy of their civilization. The Greeks are know for their sculptures and architecture because they create many of them. The Greek Art in another way is different to the other art civilizations because their art have some kind of movements that are show in the human forms and paintings. Nowadays we can see some of the Greek Art on our society because they were the one that contribute to our modern architecture. One great example of this is the white house or the courts from the United States.

I enjoy this field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art with the class. It  learned more about the Egyptian and Greece Art and also the some Drawing and painting located on the second floor.  I wish , I could take my own pictures, but unfortunately, I could  take some pictures of the Ancient Egyptian Art. This trip though us about the way of living  of the  different civilizations of the past which is represent in art like sculptures, paintings, and architectures. All of this art have many details that make easy to  us to know about them.
